Congress Party vice president Rahul Gandhi has called for greater road connectivity in Mizoram.
The Gandhi scion stressed on the need for more roads in the state and said roads are essential for connecting Mizoram with the rest of the country. He also promised to create more jobs in the state if the Congress is voted back to power.
"I am aware that it is very important for the people of Mizoram to be connected to the rest of the country, and in the next five years, our government is going to have a special focus on roads in this state," Gandhi said at a rally in the state's Kolasib District yesterday.
He also emphasized on the need to improve the welfare of the people and the youth of Mizoram and promised to induct more youths in the party, voted back to power. Mizoram is scheduled to hold elections on November 25.
Speaking on the yet-to-be completed road connecting Mizoram to Kolkata, Gandhi said "The project is 100 kilometres long and I am happy to say that 68 kilometres has been completed.
