Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will be heading to the President's House along with FTII students to take up the issue of the removal of Gajendra Chauhan as the head of the premiere institute.

"Every institution in this country that has developed on merit is now being destroyed," said Gandhi.

Last Friday, FTII students' spokesperson Vikas Urs had accused the government of trying 'to break the students by pressuring them' after notices were issued to 30 students to vacate the institute's hostel by the management.

Director of FTII Prashant Pathrabe announced that action would be taken against 30 students 'overstaying' in the hostel. The decision came in the wake of Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's written reply in the Rajya Sabha saying that a 2008 batch was still pursuing a three-year course at the institute.
