Raigad bus accident: NDRF calls off operation, 30 bodies recovered

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Sunday called off the rescue operation in Maharashtra's Ambenali Ghat of Raigad district after recovering all 30 bodies from the site of the accident.

The bus was carrying 31 passengers that fell into a 500-feet deep gorge on Saturday. Only one of the passengers survived the accident.

"A total of 30 bodies have been recovered from the site. In total 31 people were travelling in the bus when it fell off a mountain road into a gorge in Ambenali Ghat. Only one person survived the accident," an NDRF official said.

Yesterday, Raigad guardian minister Ravindra Chavan had said that bus fell down into gorge due to the driver's fault.

 

"Bus fell in a 500-feet gorge due to the fault of the driver. Only one passenger has survived the accident," Chavan had said.
