Railway Board Chairman Arunendra Kumar has praised the untiring efforts and dedication of railwaymen in achieving important goals and targets set for and by the Indian Railways.
Speaking on the occasion of the 59th Railway Week Award function here, Kumar congratulated the award winners for putting in their best performance and hoped that they would rededicate themselves to produce better results in the future.
Kumar was speaking after presenting the Running Efficiency Shield, to two sections jointly viz. ERB-VI and Health, selected as 'Best Kept Sections' for maintaining high standards of efficiency, prompt disposal of cases and excellent up-keep of records.
Besides this, merit certificates and cash awards were presented to four other well maintained sections.
In addition, 118 officers/staff of the Railway Board received merit certificates and cash awards for their outstanding performance during the year 2013-14.
A total number of 34 sportspersons and seven artists were felicitated with appreciation letters and cash awards for their outstanding performance in the Inter-Ministry, All India Civil Services and Inter-Railway Competitions.

Five awards were presented to horticulture staff of Rail Bhawan and National Rail Museum for their excellent work.
Secretary, Railway Board, P.C.Gajbhiya, said that Railway Week is celebrated every year to encourage and felicitate railwaymen for their outstanding performance during the year.
Congratulating the award winners, Gajbhiya said their performances were encouraging and a total number of 170 officers/staff of Railway Board have received the awards in various categories for their excellent performance during the year 2013-14.
