The Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday welcomed the Railway Budget and said that it has been made by keeping the long term future in mind.
Raut, however, said that the Railway Budget, even though a good one, had failed to meet expectations completely.
"Lakhs of people in Mumbai use the suburban railways to commute daily. It is true that the passenger fares have not been raised. But there is nothing new in this announcement. Suresh Prabhu ji is progressive, he has made the budget with a long term future in mind. We had some expectations and the railway budget has fallen short of it, but still we welcome it," Raut told ANI.
"A budget cannot please everyone, whether it is railway budget or union budget. No one can please all states, all classes of people and everyone. For the middle class, the fares haven't gone up, so we will wait for a better budget next time," he added.
Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu earlier in the day presented the Railway Budget for fiscal 2015-16 in Parliament.
This is the NDA Government's first full-fledged railway budget since assuming power last year.
