There was a great amount of frustration and disappointment at Malahide as heavy rain washed away the only ODI between Ireland and England with just 18 overs bowled.
England had picked up five debutants in their playing 11 for the first time since 1996. Two of the young fast bowlers had already taken wickets reducing Ireland for 56-4 in the cloudy conditions before the rain played spoilsport.
Thereafter, both the teams were unable to return to the ground as rain kept pouring, finally leading to the abandonment of the match.
There was great excitement to see how Jason Roy, James Vince and Zafar Ansari, who have been shining in the domestic arena, would perform at the international level.
This game was seen as a golden chance for Ireland to beat England on their home soil.
