The Congress Party on Saturday criticised the Vasundhara Raje Government in Rajasthan for permitting the CBI to register a case against its leaders in connection with the ambulance scam, and said the pain of "Modigate" appears visible.
"The pain of Modigate is clearly visible in the FIR registered by the Rajasthan Government. To defend herself, she (Raje) is attacking other people. She wants to prove that she and her son are not corrupt, but that Congress leaders are corrupt," said Congress leader Meem Afzal.
Afzal challenged the FIR and said the Congress would demand a probe of the case along with the Modigate case by a former judge of the Supreme Court.
"The BJP is doing this with an attitude of taking revenge in Rajasthan," claimed Afzal.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Saturday dubbed the CBI action in the ambulance scam as 'vendetta driven malicious prosecution', and said it was aimed at diverting the attention of the people from the Lalit Modi issue.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the ambulance scam probe on Friday against former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot and other members of the Congress Party.
