Rajasthan: Five killed in bus-tanker collision

At least five people were killed and more than 40 injured when a bus collided with a tanker at a National Highway in Jodhpur last night.

The bus later turtled following the collision. The injured passengers were immediately rushed to hospitals in Phalodi and Pokhran.

Those severely injured were immediately referred to Mathura Das Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur.

An injured passenger, Ashok said, "We all are from the Jain community. Around 60 of us were travelling from Phalodi to Jaisalmer. Suddenly the collision happened and I don't remember how. We asked for help and people took us to the hospital."

Constable of Phalodi Police Station, Gopi Kishan confirmed the number of casualties.

 

"At least 29 have been brought here who are given treatment. Rest will be admitted in a while. These passengers are all from Gujarat and had come to visit Jaisalmer and are from the Jain community. Five passengers have been killed and around 20 have been referred to Pokhran," said Kishan.

He added that the injured were immediately given medical assistance.
