The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday registered landslide victory in Rajasthan while the Congress fared poorly in the state.
At the end of the counting of votes, the BJP won 162seats, the Congress 21 seats while 16 seats went to the other parties.
In the 200-member Rajasthan assembly, only 199 went for polls on December 1. In Churu, the polls had been adjourned due to the death of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate post nomination, and polling there will take place on December 13.
Latest trends in Madhya Pradesh shows that the BJP is ahead in 167 seats, while the Congress leading in 57 seats.
Earlier the results in Chhattisgarh and Delhi were declared with the BJP retaining Chhattisgarh while Delhi is set for a hung assembly, with no major political party having an absolute majority to form the next government.
The counting of votes in four states began here this morning amidst tight security and elaborate arrangements made by the Election Commission.
The votes will decide the fate of contesting candidates in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh where assembly elections were held between November 11 and December 4.
