Rajasthan Royals players interact with students of Amity University

The atmosphere at Amity University became lively, exuberant and electrifying when legendary players from Rajasthan Royals Team -Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson, accompanied by upcoming stars-Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny and Tim Southee visited Amity's Gurgaon Campus and interacted with the enthusiastic students.

Amity students carrying flags of Rajasthan Royals, bats and balls and fully gripped with IPL fever, cheered aloud when Rahul Dravid entered the university accompanied by his team members-Captain Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny and Tim Southee.

Dravid expressed his happiness to see the level of overwhelming support of Amitians and re-called his own college days.

 

"Amity University and Rajasthan Royals both identify and promote young talent and it is very encouraging to launch Amity Special Sports Scholarships today," said Dravid.

Shane Watson thanked Amity University for its support and long association with Rajasthan Royals. He recalled several occasions when he interacted with Amity University and was impressed by their energy and talent.

Responding to a question posed by a student, Watson said he loves to play on Indian turf because overseas players get lot of support from Indians, who are die- hard cricket fans and it is always motivating and encouraging to play in front of large gathering.

On the request of the students, Watson obliged the audience by singing a song on the guitar as well.

Amity University Chancellor Aseem Chauhan, said the qualities of 'leadership, courage, and spirit to never give up', which have been exhibited by the Rajasthan Royals, are also the ones Amity imbibes in its students.

He outlined various noteworthy initiatives that Amity University and Rajasthan Royals have done together including adopting an orphanage and creating awareness for special needs children. In continuation of such initiatives, during the visit Amity Sports Scholarships for the deserving students of the University who have played at the national and state level were launched by the hand of Rahul Dravid.

Amity has always believed in promoting sports amongst its students through various academies. Amity Cricket Academy is one of such initiatives through which Amity promotes Cricket amongst its students, provides them training, guidance and opportunities to showcase their talent.

During the Question and Answer Session, students posed a volley of questions to their favorite players which were well received by the Cricketers.

Responding to a query from an enthusiastic Cricket fan as to how one can qualify for IPL, Dravid said "we do conduct trials and thus, lot of young talent has been brought in the team."

Amity has been supporting IPL teams Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils from past few years as official University Partner facilitating the interaction of budding cricketers and cricket fans of Amity with National and International Cricket Players.
