Raje requests PM Modi to allocate Rs. 1.5 crores for drinking water

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate Rs. 1, 50,000 crore for 10 years, required for long-term solution of the drinking water problem in her state.

Raje, who raised issues related to drinking water during her meeting with Prime Minister Modi, also urged the Centre to provide an additional support of Rs. 7,275 crore per year for the next ten years for rural water supply scheme under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP).

Raje requested that the project related to transfer of surplus water of Sabarmati Basin to Jawai Dam via Sei Pickup Weir be provided the national status and a fund of Rs. 12.29 crore be allocated to conduct survey and investigation and preparation of detailed project report.

 

She said the project will cost Rs. 2930 crores. The Chief Minister also made a request to provide national status to the project related to interlinking of surplus water of Parwati-Kalisindh River of Chambal Basin with Banas, Gambhiri and Parwati river basin up to Dholpur. She requested for allocation of Rs. 110.63 crore to conduct survey and investigation and preparation of detailed project report.

The Chief Minister sought the approval of development of rail link of 338 kilometers from Jaisalmer to Bhabhar. She said this rail line was essential to complete the rail link from Jaisalmer to Kandla as a rail line from Bhabar to Kandala via Radhanpur-Santalpur already exists.

"Jaisalmer-Barmer-Radhanpur-Gandhidham-Mundra Port rail link will connect Jaisalmer directly to Mundra Port," she said

Raje requested that approval be given to action plan for setting up of Breeding Centre for Great Indian Bustard at Jaisalmer and establishment of Maharana Pratap Armed I.R. Batallion in tribal dominated district Pratapgarh.

She also made a request to provide support of Rs. 50 crore to establish the Institute of Counter Terrorism and Anti Insurgency (ICTAI).

"Looking at the importance of heritage and tourism for Rajasthan, sanction and release of Rs. 250 crores has to be made for the tourism sector," she said

Raje requested that annual action plan for projects under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) be sanctioned and Sardarshhar, Makrana, Barmer, Banswara, Jhalawar and Karauli be included under AMRUT.

The Chief Minister requested for enhancing the delegation of powers to the state government under general approval from one hectare to 10 hectares (forest clearance) and also said that inclusion of petrol pumps/gas stations in the activities under general approval may be considered to expedite projects.

Raje informed Prime Minister Modi about the achievements and welfare activities of the state government.

"The Rajasthan Government is effectively implementing the unique Bhamashah Card Scheme introduced to empower women financially. Various schemes of Rajasthan have been applauded around the country and have become model schemes for other states," she said.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister also informed Prime Minister Modi about how effectively flagship schemes of the Government of India are being implemented in her state.
