The Congress party on Friday stated that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's election affidavit proves her direct financial involvement with Lalit Modi and called for her resignation.

"First Raje says that she does not know what papers we were talking about. Now, when her sign has been verified, the BJP says that her sign is only on one paper. You all know that Dushyant Raje has 5000 shares and his wife 4850 shares in the Niyant Heritage Hotels, where Lalit Modi has heavily invested. Vasundhara Raje's 2013 election affidavit now corroborates that she has 3280 shares in the Niyant Heritage Hotels," Congress leader Ajoy Kumar said.

"These documents now prove a direct financial involvement of Rajasthan's Chief Minister with Lalit Modi. Raje's election affidavit proves that she and Lalit Modi, a fugitive, are business partners," he added.

The BJP, which has been defending External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj despite opposition demands that she be sacked for helping Lalit Modi, was hit with another worry last week when the former IPL boss claimed that Raje secretly supported his immigration plea in Britain.

The opposition mounted pressure on Raje after the emergence of a letter reportedly carrying her signature in which she backs Lalit Modi's application in the UK.
