Amid speculation about veteran actor Rajinikanth entering politics, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundarajan on Tuesday said the latter should do some good for the people of the state.
"I welcome that move. He should do some good for the people of Tamil Nadu. His move towards the social service is appreciable. But somehow, he is not an isolated person; he is a public figure who always voices against the atrocities in the state," said Soundarajan.
Noting that the Tamil superstar had offered Rs. one crore for former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's pet project to inter-link rivers, she said that they had requested him previously also to join hands.
"In 1996, he raised his voice against the corruption in Tamil Nadu. If he joins, then it will add strength to the party," she added.
Speaking in Chennai earlier this week at the launch of the audio and trailer of his tri-lingual action-thriller 'Lingaa', Rajinikanth hinted that he may join politics.
