Rajnath appeals to North-East insurgency groups to shun violence

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday stated that insurgency and militancy have severely hampered progress in the North-East states, appealing to the extremist groups operating in the region to shun violence.

The official twitter handle of the Office of the Home Minister shared the thoughts of Singh via a series of tweets.

"Addressing a press conference in Agartala the HM said Insurgency was the biggest problem facing the North-Eastern region."

"Our govt. is committed to the North East development but insurgency and militancy hamper its progress :HM"

"HM appealed to insurgent groups operating in the North-East to shun violence and give the region a chance to progress and develop"

 

"I have assured Tripura government of all cooperation to deal with the issues of insurgency and other security related issues : HM"

Earlier in the day, the minister had met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and had reviewed the security situation in the state.

Singh, along with Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, on Friday had embarked on a two-day visit to Manipur and Tripura.
