Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Sunday hit out at the Congress Party, and said that they adopted the policy of divide and rule, by sowing seeds of hatred among Muslims and Hindus.

"The Congress might have not have adopted any policy of the British government after partition and Independence of India but they adopted the policy of divide and rule," he told media here today.

"Congress has always tried to sow seeds of hatred among Muslims and Hindus by whatever means," he added.

Singh also accused Congress of being the most communal party of the country.

"The Congress is the biggest communal party of India. They say that Muslims are backward after 66 years of Independence. I want to ask Congress friends, 'you have ruled for 54 years. Why are Muslims backward after 54 years of your rule?' Muslims of India want answer from you to this question," he said.
