Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Sunday urged fellow Indians to uphold the dignity and prestige of the Constitution of India.

"We should understand that the Constitution is above everything, and we should take a pledge to uphold the dignity and prestige of the Constitution," he said after unfurling the tricolour at the BJP headquarters here today.

He also appealed to people to take a vow to fulfill every martyr's dream of making India poverty free, and becoming one of the major super power in the world.

"On the occasion of Republic Day, we should all take a pledge to be united and fight all the problems of our country. And this would be our true tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to get us independence, and who had a dream of seeing India poverty free and as one of the major super power in the world. We should take a vow to fulfill this dream of the martyrs," he added.

India is celebrating its 65th Republic Day, which will be marked by a colourful parade showcasing the nation's cultural diversity and military strength.
