Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured him of complete cooperation in the implementation of the odd-even formula to reduce the vehicles on the capital's roads.

"We got very positive response from Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue of odd-even scheme. He assured me that the central government and the Delhi Police will cooperate with the scheme. He raised certain concerns like patients travelling in vehicles, woman driving alone. I told him that the issues raised by him will be considered," Kejriwal told the media here after meeting Rajnath Singh.

The Delhi government has announced that from the start of 2016, private vehicles with odd registration numbers will ply on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and with even numbers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The plan for Sundays is yet to be announced.

The decision came after widespread warnings that Delhi's air pollution had breached tolerable limits, and Delhi High Court ruled that the city had become like a "gas chamber".
