Rajya Sabha failed to transact much business on Monday due to the continuous uproar caused by Congress and TDP members.

Because of the disruptions, the motion of thanks to the President's address, which was slated for today, could not be taken up.

The House was finally adjourned for the day at 2 PM.

During the day's proceedings, Congress and TDP members continued their protests on various issues and also stormed into the well of the house.

"As you are aware the Business Advisory Committee has allotted 10 hours for the motion of thanks. We are now left with only two and half days during which we have to not only discuss the motion of the thanks but also have to do financial business including the passing of bills", the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha informed the house.

Before adjournment, the Chair also informed the members about the function to unveil the portrait of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the central hall on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, two bills were introduced before Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu adjourned the House.
