BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Saturday condemned the former UPA regime's border policy with neighbouring China, saying the Indian security forces had extra instructions to never challenge the Chinese during that time.

"In normal situations, when army and army face each other; they challenge each other but we had extra instructions given to army that never challenge the Chinese," Madhav said while delivering a speech here.

"There was a policy with China under the previous government. Actually, there used to be this claim that on India-Pakistan border there is always trouble, but on the India-China border things are always peaceful. You don't hear much about India-China border skirmishes," he added.

The BJP leader asserted that for the first time, the government is not only challenging the Chinese on the border but also in Delhi.

"But, for the first time we are not only challenging them (the Chinese) on the border, but also in Delhi. When the President of China visited India, we not only extended a warm welcome to him but we also told him that we need peace on the border. Our Prime Minister did not mince words in saying that," he added.
