Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and his wife Veena Singh attended a mass marriage ceremony here in Raipur, where 119 couples tied the nuptial knot under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojna.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Chief Minister extended his wishes to the couples tying the knot.
"I extended my best wishes to the couple who got married today under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojna. Apart from being the Chief Minister, I am also a doctor, so I advised the couples on family planning and told them to have a gap of two years before having children. I also asked them to avoid having more than two children," he told ANI.
Two weeks ago, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also attended a mass marriage ceremony in Sonbhadra district.
Mass weddings are increasingly becoming popular, especially among the economically weaker sections of the Indian society, as they reduce the financial burden on the couple and their families.
