Rani Mukherjee who is all set to make her much-awaited comeback with a Yash Raj film, launched the first look of her upcoming film 'Mardaani' in Mumbai.
The movie, which deals with the issue of child sex trafficking, will be her first post marriage film.
The actress reportedly underwent an extensive training session to learn different techniques of Krav Maga, an Israeli martial art and self-defense system, as she is portraying the character of a strong female cop in the film.
"It was very interesting to play Shivani Shivaji Roy because she is an inspector in crime branch and it was very interesting to meet these people and do the research on the film. I got to meet many lady inspectors who inspired me a lot, and this film is a medium to tell the entire nation about the contribution they have made in our lives," said Mukherjee.
The 36 year old actress, who played a courageous journalist in 'No One Killed Jessica' in 2011, believes in sending across a strong message through all her films.
"Whatever roles I have played so far in each film, there is a very strong message for girls and women, and I have always wanted to play such roles, and for this role, I am very happy," she added.
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film will release worldwide on 22nd August, 2014.
