Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology, and Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday participated in the 'Swacch Bharat' campaign by wielding the broom to clean the Patna railway station.

"Prime Minister Modi has launched clean India campaign in a big way. We must make this movement a mass movement," said Prasad.

"I am very happy that the 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan has been organised at the Patna railway station. I picked up broom and cleaned the premises of the law ministry some days back, and now, I am Patna as I belong to Bihar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dreamt of clean and green India by 2019," he added.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi officially launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' from Rajpath, he also administered Swachh Bharat pledge and flagged-off Swachh Bharat walkathon.

The 'Swachh Bharat' campaign that has been launched nationwide focuses on sanitation, hygiene and waste management.

The launch was preceded by cleanliness campaign week beginning September 25 which saw central government offices being spruced up by discarding or overhauling old furniture and sending old files to record rooms.
