Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has hit out at the Spanish press, saying that he is being made a scapegoat at his club and that it was not the right decision for the team to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal.
According to the Mirror, the German international believes he is being targeted by certain sections of the media because he is foreign, and because he has remained loyal to former boss Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho left the Bernabeu this summer to take up the hot seat at Chelsea, but Khedira thinks the sour taste the Portuguese left behind in Madrid is now being used against him, the report said.
Khedira said that the Spanish press does not value him, even when he plays well.
The midfielder also hit out at the Bernabeu club's decision to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal, with Madrid already playing catch up to rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the report added.
He said that losing a player like Ozil would weaken any team.
