Disgraced fast bowler Mohammad Amir has vowed to respect the honour of Pakistan's green cap after being named for a national camp, which could pave the way for his return to the national squad.

The 23-year-old insisted that he would do his best to respect the prestige of the green cap and Pakistan shirt, Sport24 reported.

Left-hander Amir displayed impressive form in domestic matches as well as in the Bangladesh Premier League after ending his five-year ban for spot-fixing three months ago.

Considered as one of the most promising talents, Amir had taken 51 wickets in 14 Tests and 25 in 15 one-day internationals before he was handed a five-year ban for bowling deliberate no-balls by pre-arrangement during the fourth test against England at Lord's in 2010.

The selected players for the fitness camp will be eligible for the team's limited-overs series against New Zealand starting from January 15.
