World No.1 Tiger Woods is reportedly concerned about ensuring his long-term fitness even though he is hoping to return to competition this summer.

The 14-time Major winning American, who has not played since the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March and has since had surgery on a pinched nerve in his back, is highly unlikely to be fit for this year's US Open, which starts on 12 June.

According to the BBC, Woods' representative Mark Steinberg said that he expects Woods to play this summer, although he admitted that it is a little too early to pinpoint an approximate time for his competitive return.

Steinberg also said that Woods is currently not targeting any specific tournament for his return as he is thinking about his long-term future.
