Renault Sports racing has confirmed their separation with Red Bull after 12 years of association, with the Formula One racing team also announcing a new deal with Honda.

Reflecting on the split, the automobile company termed the development as "natural evolution" and stated that it was important in view of the respective aspirations of both the companies.

Renault further stated that it was proud of its partnership with Formula One racing team and the results they attained in past 12 seasons.

"In an extremely demanding and competitive environment we are proud of the extraordinary results achieved with Red Bull Racing over the past 12 seasons, in particular, the four Drivers' and Constructors' World Championships and 57 wins we have taken together," Renault said.

As a result of their split, Honda joined forces with Red Bull for two seasons i.e. 2019 and 2010. They would now provide an engine to both Red Bull teams after collaborating with Toro Rosso this season.

"We have been impressed by Honda's commitment to F1, by the rapid steps they have made in recent times with our sister team Scuderia Toro Rosso, and by the scope of their ambition, which matches our own. We look forward to working with Honda in the coming years and to racing together in pursuit of F1's biggest prizes," news.com.au quoted Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, as saying.

"This multi-year agreement with Honda signals the start of an exciting new phase in Aston Martin Red Bull Racing's efforts to compete not just for Grand Prix wins but for what is always our goal - championship titles," Horner added.

In their 12 seasons with Renault, Red Bull clinched 57 Grand Prix victories and four successive drivers' and constructors' championship titles from 2010 to 2013.
