Northern Irish golf ace Rory McIlroy has said that he desperately wants to win the 96th PGA Championship after he arrived at the Valhalla layout having won his past two tournaments.
McIlroy arrived at Valhalla after winning his third major title last month at the British Open and his first WGC crown this Sunday at Akron. The Northern Irishman is a clear favorite and the first player since Tiger Woods in 2009 to enter a major after back-to-back wins.
Eyeing a hattrick, McIlroy said that it is great to have a chance to try to go there to try to win three in a row, Sport24 reported.
McIlroy overtook Australian Adam Scott for the world number one ranking after winning the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday. He said that his goal now until the end of the year is just to try to win as many golf tournaments as he can and it is not to try to finish number one.
The Northern Irishman added that he feels like with the way he is playing there is a few left in him this year.
