Parents of deceased South African model Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot dead by Paralympics runner Oscar Pistorius, have begged the judge in Shrien Dewani's honeymoon murder trial not to throw out the case.
Barry and June Steenkamp want the British Indian businessman millionaire to face justice over wife Anni's death. Dewani is accused of arranging the kidnap and murder of his new bride in South Africa in November 2010.
Anni's parents Vinod and Nilam Hindocha said that they were grateful for the support they've received from the Steenkamps, whose daughter was shot dead by boyfriend Pistorius on Valentine's Day last year, The Daily Star reported.
Vinod Hindocha said that he is delighted Reeva's parents have said that they would support them, adding that Barry hoped they would get the right to hear the full cases.
He also said that only Barry and he, as fathers, could properly understand the pain of losing a daughter to bullets and then experience very difficult and high-pro?le cases.
Anni was shot dead in a carjacking and three men were convicted of murder, but one of them, Zola Tongo, claims that he was paid 1,300 pounds by Dewani to kill her.
Dewani's lawyers want the case dismissed, saying Tongo is an unreliable witness, and the Judge Jeanette Traverso is set to make a ruling at Western Cape High Court on Monday, the report added.
