Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the country's image in the world is 'Scam India' which needs to be changed to 'Skilled India'.

"India's identity in the world right now is 'Scam India' we need to change it to 'Skilled India'," said Modi while responding to President Pranab Mukhejee's address to the joint session of the Parliament on Monday.

Focussing on the need to concentrate on skill development, Modi said, "We need to concentrate on skill development. One needs capability and talent to progress. Only a certificate is not enough."

He also called for empowering women in the country and said that they should be made partners in the journey of development.

"Playing with dignity of women does not suit us. Women's respect should be a priority for all Indians," he added.

"We need to work for all parts of the society. If one part of the society is weak, the society as a whole can never be strong," he said.
