Researchers have predicted that a quarter of Britons will be from ethnic minorities within the next three decades.

According to the Daily Star, researchers predicted that the population will rise from 63.4 million in 2011 to 77.4 million by 2051.

The population will be fuelled by a 120 percent increase in minority ethnic numbers while the white population will only grow by 3.3 million to 58.6 million and ethnic numbers will soar more than 10 million to 18.7 million.

Professor Philip Rees, of Leeds University, where the research was carried out, said even if borders were shut, minority groups would still grow because so many of them are at "baby-making age".

Oxford University professor David Coleman said many consequences of the large scale immigration were damaging and that they did not want 13 million people by the mid century.
