Pakistan cricketers Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shehzad have been fined 40 per cent and 30 per cent of their match fees after being found guilty of making 'inappropriate and deliberate physical contact' during a Pakistan Super League match in Sharjah.
A fierce war of words was exchanged between both the players after Quetta Gladiators opener Shehzad was clean bowled by Peshawar Zalmi's Riaz, who was clobbered for a six by the batsman earlier in the fifth over.
A charged-up Wahab was then seen provoking Shehzad by passing 'inappropriate' comments, to which the batsman reacted by colliding with the bowler, the Dawn reported.
However, the scuffle was neutralised on the spot.
Match referee Roshan Mahnama issued a warning and fined both the players for violating clause 2.2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to "inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play".
