Red Bull racer Daniel Ricciardo is reportedly a shattered man after learning that he has been stripped of becoming the first Australian to score a podium at the Australian Grand Prix by FIA.
The FIA officials reportedly disqualified Ricciardo from the race in an ugly aftermath to the best performance by an Australian at either Melbourne or former GP venue Adelaide, for a fuel flow breach that saw the Australian racer exceed regulations.
According to News.com.au, however, the race officials said that Ricciardo is blameless in the misfortune and Red Bull Racing has also maintained that they are not at fault.
Red Bull director Christian Horner said that the team would appeal the disqualification and backed Ricciardo as well as the team saying that it is not their fault, as he believes that the team has been complaint to the rules.
The bombshell was dropped after Ricciardo, who is debuting for Red Bull Racing, reportedly held on to the second position keeping McLaren Mercedes driver Kevin Magnussen at bay and secured the best finish for an Australian driver at Albert Park, while Mercedes no. 2 Rosberg finished in first place.
