Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday called upon the private sector to involve in Disaster Risk Reduction,( DRR) efforts.
Addressing the 6th Annual Conference of the International Society for Integrated Disaster Risk Management here, Rijiju said that DRR is the government's priority but more investment needs to be done.
He said global warming and climate change are making the earth more prone to disasters and this year has been perhaps the warmest in recorded history.
Rijiju said sustainable development is the key to mitigate the causes of disasters.
He concluded by saying that India is one of the leading countries on disaster management.
He said, over the years the country has built capacities to tackle disasters effectively.
