Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday lauded the efforts and strategies of Delhi Police to deal with challenges, and added that the achievements of the men in uniform should be projected proportionately.

"Often what we see is that the achievements or the success stories of the Delhi Police or for that matter any force is not reflected proportionately, but the failures are proportionately reflected. I must say that we do have failures as the challenges we face are very complex, but the success story of Delhi Police is rated very high," said Rijiju.

He congratulated the Delhi Police for looking after all the people, who visit the national capital.

"There are elements in the society that will always try to dodge the laws. I am happy that the Delhi Police is well-equipped and dealing with the situation with the limitations they have," Rijiju said.

"I have visited many metropolitan cities in the country in last seven months. Wherever I have been to, expect for the few cases, I have told them the stories of Delhi Police and especially when it comes to the issues related to the people of north-eastern states, I tell the efforts and the steps taken by the Delhi Police," he added.

Asserting that the steps and measures taken by the Delhi Police have become a guideline, the Minister of State for Home further emphasized that the people from the north-eastern states should be represented more proportionately in the forces.

"What we have realized is that the Delhi Police do not proportionately represent the people of north-eastern region in its forces. There are incidents in which we feel that north-eastern people have to be more visible. Sometimes, justice is not enough to be done; it should be seem to be done. So, Delhi Police despite being taking care about the north-eastern issues but we sometimes feel that it is not well represented in its force," he said.
