India's challenge in archery in the ongoing Rio Olympics ended on Friday as lone survivor Atanu Das also crashed out of the prestigious quadrennial event after going down 4-6 at the hands of World number eight Lee Seung-yun in the pre-quarter-finals of the Men's Individual Archery event.

Although Atanu performed neck-to-neck throughout the match, he was unlucky to miss the quarter-final birth to South Korea's Lee, who was just unstoppable.

Das, who stormed into the round of 32 following his crushing 6-0 win over Nepal's Muktan Jitbahadur, finished his campaign with a 28-30, 30-28, 27-27, 27-28, 28-28 defeat against the eighth-ranked archer.

Earlier, the Indian women archery trio of Deepika Kumari, Laxmirani Majhi and Bombayla Devi were also knocked out of the Summer Games after losing the group match against Russia and their respective individual recurve competition.
