Road caves in at Chennai following incessant rains

With fresh downpour lashing Chennai and disrupting normal, a road at Madhya Kailash signal in the city caved in on Tuesday morning.

The incident led to a massive traffic jam at the major intersection as it connects the IT hub with other parts of the Tamil Nadu capital.

According reports, Chennai has received almost 6.4 cm rain in the last 12 hours till 8 30 am this morning and has disrupted normal life.

Such was the intensity of rains that around 10 flights were delayed.

The rain water even entered a government hospital forcing the staff to evacuate the patients out of their wards.

 

According to government's statistics, the floods, due to heavy rains in November, have inflicted damages amounting to Rs. 8,481 crore across the state.
