Roadside mine blast kills six policemen in Afghanistan

As many as six policemen were killed on Tuesday afternoon when their vehicle hit a roadside mine on the Lashkargah-Kandahar highway.

The policemen were from the Helmand Highway Battalion.

The incident happened when the vehicle they were traveling in hit a roadside mine in Popalzai Shakh area along the Lashkargah-Kandahar highway, Tolo News has reported.

However, the provincial governor's spokesman Omarzowak said that four policemen were killed and two others were wounded.

No group, including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Taliban killed eleven police officers in February 2017 in the southern province of Helmand, which has for the last year been the most violent place in Afghanistan.

 

In another incident, a judge was killed and three civilians were wounded in a magnetic mine blast in Jalalabad city of Nangarhar early Tuesday.

The incident happened at about 9 a m close to Eidgah mosque in Jalalabad.
