Liverpool football team manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that his club could finish in the top four of the Premier League table after their battling 2-2 draw against Arsenal.
Slovakia football team skipper Martin Skrtel, playing with a head wound, nodded in an equaliser seven minutes into injury time at Anfield to grab the leveler for Liverpool. Rodgers' side currently stand's 10th in the table, nine points adrift of fourth-placed West Ham United.
Rodgers confirmed that they can now challenge for the top four, adding that the most important thing is that his club is moving in the right direction again, The BBC reported.
Liverpool, who beat Bournemouth 3-1 on Wednesday to reach the semifinals of the League Cup, looked set for an eighth league defeat of the season until Skrtel rose to convert Adam Lallana's cross.
Rodgers, who saw Fabio Borini sent off late on, added that the way his squad fought back to equalise with 10 men says everything about the team and its character. He claimed that this a group of players with the talent to win games, as they did when they won 11 in succession last season, and that can quickly move one up the league.
Liverpool, runners-up to champions Manchester City last season, remain without a league win in three games. But an Rodgers was encouraged by Liverpool's display, and the imminent return of striker Daniel Sturridge from a thigh injury.
Rodgers claimed that they are slowly getting back to where they want to be, adding that their performance was outstanding.
