Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is confident of signing a long-term extension to his contract at the club this summer, when he is likely to be rewarded for the squads likely improvement this season with a significant pay rise.
Rodgers, who is on the verge of guiding Liverpool to their first league title since 1990, has only 14 months left on his three-year contract at the club.
According to the guardian, Rodgers, who moved from Swansea City to Liverpool in 2012, said that there is no doubt that at some point that the club would agree to another deal for him at Anfield and he feels sure about that.
If Rodgers' squad beats Chelsea in their upcoming clash on Sunday, which would end his managerial mentor Jose Mourinho's Premier League title hopes, then the Northern Irishman could be negotiating from a position of greater strength.
Mourinho had reportedly hired Rodgers as Chelsea academy's head and then promoted him to reserve-team manager during his first spell at Stamford Bridge.
Rodgers, who has been friends with Mourinho since the Portuguese helped offered him a job, received a text from the Chelsea boss to recommend that he accept the job offer from Anfield two years ago, the report added.
Rodgers said that he is sure that Mourinho would not regret the advice he gave him even if Liverpool beats Chelsea in their next Premier League clash.
