Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has said that he will make sure that the situation with controversial striker Luis Suarez does not ruin the club's start to the season on the eve of their opening Premier League game against Stoke City.

According to the Daily Star, Rodgers, who ordered Suarez to train on his own a week ago as a punishment for showing of a lack of respect to the club, expects him to apologise to his teammates as he sets to hold face-to-face talks with Suarez following his arrival from international duty with Uruguay in Japan.

The report further said that Suarez, who was incensed when Liverpool turned down Arsenal's bid of 40 million pounds plus a pound, designed to trigger a release clause, had felt that Liverpool had betrayed him on a verbal agreement and had allegedly accused Rodgers of lying.

However, Rodgers has said that the Suarez drama will not sabotage the team's preparations for the match against Stoke City and future games, adding that he cannot let anything detract the team from those preparations as too much good work has gone on since the drama began.

Rodgers further said that he will be concentrating on the available players for this weekend, adding that the rest of the team need to chip in Suarez's absence although Daniel Sturridge will spearhead the Liverpool attack.
