Liverpool football team manager Brendan Rodgers has told his squad to drink in the glory of their return to the Champions League, but also urged his surprised players to realise they are back in Europe's elite competition as one of the most exciting teams in there.
Liverpool welcome Bulgarian champions Lodogorets this evening, as Anfield hosts an elite European night for the first time in five years, and their proud coach insisted they are not out simply to take snaps and enjoy the occasion.
Rodgers said that they are not tourists in this competition, adding that they believe it is where they belong and where Liverpool should be playing, The Mirror reported.
The Liverpool boss said that for the players and everyone involved it's something that brings the real excitement, but it isn't a 'giddy' excitement.
Rodgers said that they are Liverpool, they are five times winners of the European Cup and they are synonymous with its best traditions. He added that their players are excited by the challenges ahead, not daunted by them.
Rodgers said that Liverpool has have earned the right to be there, that's the important thing.
