Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has reportedly warned the defending champions Manchester United that losing to the Reds in their upcoming match would pave United's way out of the Premier League.

Liverpool visit Old Trafford on Sunday, reportedly looking to eliminate any lingering hopes, which United is harbouring of finishing in the Champions League places.

According to the Mirror, Rodgers said that his club is 11 points clear of United now and if it goes on to 14, then David Moyes' men cannot do anything to make it into the Champions League adding that even 11 would be 'very tough' for the Old Trafford side.

Rodgers further added that his team's first aim is to secure the fourth place and then work upwards, which could reportedly condemn their rivals to a prolonged period in the European wilderness as a by-product.

Rodgers reportedly warned Moyes' side that once a team slips out of the elite Champions League group, it is difficult to get back adding that Liverpool still have a lot of work to get into it.
