Controversial American basketball legend Dennis Rodman has said that he is not an 'ambassador' to North Korea and is simply a former NBA star fighting addiction and trying to be a better father.
The former basketball player is probably the only American with the most access to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and many have been critical that he has not lobbied for the release of American prisoner Kenneth Bae from a labor camp.
According to CNN, despite Rodman's apparent 'chumminess' with Kim, which has embroiled him in US-North Korea relations, however, Rodman said that he does not know enough about the allegations of abuse and authoritarianism that Kim is reviled for as he is not an ambassador to figure out why Kim is going ahead with his actions.
Rodman also said that he did not mean to insinuate during an earlier interview this month that he knew why Bae, a Korean-American, was being held in North Korea, adding that he is prepared to even offer himself in return of Bae's release.
Meanwhile, Rodman said that he believes that the reason he is an alcoholic is because he is bored, adding that his actions in North Korea do not make him a bad person and a traitor.
