Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has backed Manchester United football team manager Louis van Gaal to bring the Premier League title back to the English club.
Ronaldo believes that the Premier League club he served from 2003-2009 has finally found a manager capable of living up to the standards laid down by Sir Alex Ferguson.
It is Ronaldo's former employers against his old Real boss at Old Trafford on Sunday, and while the Portuguese reckons Jose Mourinho's Chelsea would finish top of the Premier League this season, the striker says that Dutchman Van Gaal would restore United's fortunes, The Mirror reported.
Ronaldo said that Van Gaal is a fantastic coach and added that he is certain the Dutchman would make United champions again, if not this year then very soon after that.
The former United star said that Ferguson said that Van Gaal would need time and he is right, because in the beginning at United, even the legendary manager didn't win anything for a few years.
Ronaldo also said that to get a good squad and a good team takes time, so he added that lets give Van Gaal the time he needs.
Ronaldo added that Chelsea is stronger than all the other teams this year although in the Premier League one never knows what can happen. He said that he hopes United could come again at the top of the league but, at the moment, they are many points behind Chelsea.
