Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney might face a police quiz over a photographer's assault that reportedly took place ten feet away from him and his wife Coleen at the Rihanna concert.

The award-winning photographer Chris Gleave who was at the concert to take pictures of the couple as they arrived at the Manchester Arena was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital for a CT scan after he was hit at the back of his head and started vomitting, the Mirror reports.

According to the report, Gleave had his injuries photographed by the British Transport Police for investigation and said that though Rooney and his wife were a few feet away from him, he is not certain Rooney had seen him.

Gleave said that his condition after getting bruised in the back of his head was so serious that the doctors at the hospital thought he might have had internal bleeding, adding that the man who had hit him laughed at his face and walked away.

Lamenting that the incident that took place was absolutely uncalled for, Gleave further said that he is not aware as to why it happened and he had been photographing Rooney and Coleen when his head was smashed and the front of his head hit the camera, although he received bruises at the back of his head.

However, one of Rooney's sources said that neither he nor Coleen had seen the incident and had entered the venue just when it had taken place.

The police spokesman has said that the police are yet to make a decision on the witnesses and they will first need to speak to the victim and the alleged offender before considering anyone else for inquiry.
