Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has revealed that he and his teammates had held crisis talks after their humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to arch-rivals Liverpool, following which they bounced back from that loss to beat Olympiakos 3-0 and book their place in Champions League quarter-final draw.
The Liverpool defeat was a new low in David Moyes' troubled first season at United and Rooney said the players took it upon themselves to put things right.
According to the Mirror, Rooney said that even though they discuss a match after every game, they are aware of what went wrong in their performance against Liverpool and discussed those issues, following which they delivered a big performance against Olympiakos.
Rooney also said that they had to stand up and be at their best against Olympiakos, adding that they now have to kick on and give performances like that every week.
Rooney admitted United, who travel to West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, owed Moyes a big performance after letting him down, adding that they have to keep working and believing in themselves in order to improve as a team.
