England batsman Joe Root has backed his side to chase down New Zealand's record target of 455 on the final day of the Headingley Test.
Root said that England could do something special to chase down the visitor's target, the BBC has reported.
A draw would be enough to secure a 1-0 series win for England, who reached 44-0 before rain ended play shortly after lunch on day four.
Root said they have got a long batting order and have a great opportunity on hand.
If England achieves the target, it would be the highest successful fourth-innings chase in Test history, beating the 418-7 that West Indies made against Australia in Antigua in 2003.
However, with the arrival of rain at lunch on the fourth day, England has boosted their chances of earning a draw, thus winning the two-match Test series.
However, Root said that with the rain coming, it has become a little difficult for them because they had every intention of going out with a view of winning the game.
He added that they have got less time to do that now but they have got an opportunity to do something special.
