German driver Nico Rosberg has signed a new two-year contract with Mercedes which will see him partner reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton until the end of 2018.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and Rosberg announced the news with a short video on Twitter showing both of them signing the contract. The development comes ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Rosberg, who joined Mercedes team from Williams in 2010, used to partner seven-time champion Michael Schumacher before Hamilton teamed up with the German team 2013, the Guardian reported.
Since then, the pair have formed one of the fiercest rivalries in the history of the sport. Despite winning 19 races, Rosberg is yet to beat Hamilton to the Formula One championship.
Rosberg is currently leading Hamilton by just one point in the ongoing Formula One season.
