Reigning Formula One champions Lewis Hamilton received an 'old' birthday wish from his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg as the Briton celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday.

The German is hoping that Hamilton would be easier to beat this season, and posted on Twitter that Hamilton has turned 30, telling him to have a great party, and added that the day is good for him, as the Brit is old now, so hopefully it would be easier for Rosberg this season.

The 29-year-old German finished as runner-up to Hamilton in a dominant championship for the team the previous season, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Hamilton and Rosberg have been friends since their early teens, when they were karting teammates, but their relationship was severely tested in the heat of battle last year.

Hamilton said on Facebook that it is hard to believe that 30 years have passed, adding that there are so many great memories. He further stated that he has lived to the fullest and is grateful for the years to come.

Hamilton also posted a picture of himself as a baby and thanked his parents on the social networking site, the report added.
