England boss Roy Hodgson has said that ensuring his team's golden ticket to the Soccer World Cup finals was like winning a lottery as it allowed him to dream of glory in Brazil next summer.

According to the Mirror, Hodgson expressed that he was not being emotional, but emotions were churning around inside him, adding that he died a thousand deaths every time Poland crossed the halfway line.

Former Switzerland, Inter Milan and Fulham boss Hodgson also claimed leading the Three Lions to a tournament in Brazil was the proudest night of his career, the report said.

Hodgson's men secured victory with a goal in each half from Wayne Rooney and captain Steven Gerrard's late clincher to ensure England topped Group H, the report added.

He said that the blend between the senior and young players was looking good and he was hoping that they all stay fit because it had made a big difference getting all the young players fit again.
